がんかい【眼界】

a field [range, radius] of vision; (one's) sight [view]; eyeshot; a visual field; a prospect; the sweep [reach] of the eye; 〔見識の幅〕 mental vision. [＝しや]

●眼界が広い[狭い] have a wide [narrow] field of view; have an extensive [a confined] range of vision; 〔考えが〕 be broad-[narrow-]minded; have a wide [narrow] mental horizon

・森を出ると急に眼界が開けた. As I came out of the forest, a (broad) view opened up before me. | A wide prospect burst upon my view as I came out of the forest.

●眼界に入る come in [into] (one's) sight [view]; break [burst] upon one's view; 〔景色が〕 spread (out) before one.

●眼界の内[外]にある be within [out of] eyeshot; be within [beyond] one's field of vision.

●眼界を広くする widen [enlarge] one's (mental) vision [horizon].
